Lee Collins Top 10 Must-Have Mac App List

A lot of people recently have been asking me about my switch to Mac and how things are going. In a word - AWESOME! I love my MacBook and I don't see myself EVER going back to a Windows-based machine. The entire experience has been incredible - from having a computer that WORKS, to the exceptional support, to, well... EVERYTHING. And once you have your Mac you will want to outfit it with the coolest apps - right?

So here's a short list of my Top 10 recommended Mac apps (in no particular order):

Jing – yes, you should install and love jing for making short screen capture movies :-) http://www.jingproject.com/ Growl - Growl lets Mac OS X applications unobtrusively tell you when things happen. I have mine setup to display in a semi-transparent box in the top right of my screen. http://growl.info/ Hidden - the cheapest and most advanced theft recovery solution for your Mac http://hiddenapp.com (normally $20, only $10 with code TUAW50) Audacity – free audio editor and recorder http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ Skype – so we can chit-chat homie http://www.skype.com/download/skype/macosx/ Disk Inventory X - shows what files takes up how much space (similar to Sequoia for Windows) http://www.derlien.com/ Firefox - the best web browser around in my opinion http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en/products/firefox/ Gimp - free image editing program (free alternative to Photoshop) http://gimp.lisanet.de/Website/Download.html Monolingual – I don’t speak Portugese, so why should my Mac?
