Hmmm ... Sounds like a story I heard from a presenter @ #ROP in Vegas.

Personally, I believe it Depends ... on the audience, one's objective and comfort level with their 'Self'. I agree that one must be congruent with 'Who' they are.

You and Lee DO make a handsome couple and present yourselves as comfortable and Successful - because That's Who You Are! [Though I do have to say, Robin, that you DO 'carry' Lee ;o)]

While NOT dressing more 'formally' makes many a statement; So DOES dressing more 'formally' - IF one gives attention to the details, enough so that they don't look like everyone else.

The point is to Stand Out in a Crowded World ... to BE SEEN in the manner YOU Set Forth; By - Plan and Design. ALWAYS ... BE ... YOU ... Authentically ... No matter What you wear. Then, of course, you Still have to [as Trump said on "The Big Idea" with Donny Deutsch] 'Deliver the Goods'. We are Always being judged ... the question IS ... What impression do we want to make on another and Do We Care??

A question to consider is: "How will this affect my 'bottom line'?" If it doesn't matter - then it doesn't matter, but if it Does, or Might, then I say error on the side of being over dressed. My personal experiments have proved that How I look/dress DOES matter [and it only took me a half-century to 'get-it'.

I travel in a suit these days, as I get through airports and Security more easily, though I'm the same guy as I am in flip flops and shorts, though why I can't wear shorts in public is a story I am unable to share here :o).

Remember as @BenMack says - YOU - ARE - Your - BRAND! That's enough 'ranting' for me. Thanks for reading MHO ... Warmest Regards

I say dress code be dammed! It is my understanding that you were presenting information for the good of all. That did not, as I see it, require any type of formal or" business" attire. Of course I could be wrong since that has happened before in my case. Well much good luck to you and next time maybe you could surprise them or he with a surprise get up from the Ohio farm. Keep up the good work.

This letter could have been far worse! This person could have said that he hated what was presented to him, both in information and by all the presenters :-)

As long as he enjoyed his time with you and learned from the experience, you should both be very happy.

Continue to enjoy what you do and don't worry about dressing up to anyone's expectations.

After reading your blog concerning the person who had a problem with your appearrance I just needed to say to you : So what? After all , it is like you say - it was supposed to be a happy and relaxed meeting whereto a person could come for the whole experience. I would give my eyeteeth to be in a position to attend such a meeting!!! But having said that, I also just had to say this to you - by looking at the top of the blog, you guys sure make a handsome couple! I actually though it is models used in the graphics. What a stunning picture of a happy and relaxed couple! So again: So what?

Hey Robin!

I would actually be worried if you and Lee presented on stage in "formal attire" such a as a suit & tie. You are selling your Lifestyle, and if the image you presented onstage to your audience was incongruent with your lives offstage, most would see the disconnect and not be able to relate as well.

All-in-all, I feel your "fan" is really complimenting you guys and probably comes from a background where their is no alternative to the pin-striped suit. As long as you two continue to have "style" I don't think its an issue!!

Cheers,

James W

P.S. It was great meeting you both this past weekend in San Jose! I have already begun implementing your Hybrid Marketing tactics in my business...thanks for all the great info!
